Rush |
Phi Delta Theta is an international fraternity. Over 170 chapters exist around the world. The Maryland Gamma chapter was founded in 1992. Since that time, we have initiated 168 brothers. Each one has made a significant contribution to this chapter's reputation. Understandably, you may have reservations regarding fraternity rush. That's a natural reaction. Before making your decision, however, engage brothers you know and ask what their experiences and emotions before they pledged. They are an invaluable resource in this way. "What will I get from this experience?" The Greek system, in general, has many advantages. For one, you are entering a world of rituals, which is a valuable concept if viewed positively. To succeed in a college or university, one must have a strong scholastic ritual. Focusing on goals is an essential step toward achievement. Our Fraternity focuses on three key principals, which are:
These Cardinal Principals help us set our goals. Rituals, if viewed in a broad sense, benefit us as a group of brothers and as a society. "What happens after I graduate?" Brotherhood extends beyond the chapter or the school. After completing your college or university education, you search for a job. Unless you have some serious connections, you are on your own. You will network with people your whole life. Getting a head start improves your chances for success. Phi Delta Theta in a sense is a network. Becoming a brother means you establish an instant connection to thousands of brothers: a bond. The Bond of Phi Delta Theta centers on a wise motto: "One Man is No Man." In this world of team-oriented learning and building, this philosophy is relevant. You better yourself as you learn from others. This idea sounds pretty modern...it's been our tradition for over 150 years! Consider this question when deciding: "Does Phi Delta Theta share the values that I have?" Even if you are not sure, visit Cecil House and find out for yourself. This fall, we recruit new members. If you are interested, please contact me. Thank you. Sincerely, Mike Mason (182) Recruitment Chairman, Maryland Gamma |
